Payal and Sudeep, the usual concerned parents of growing children and Shashi, an industry pro were at a crossroad, trying to identify healthy and nutritious, naturally fresh food options that were ready-to eat. The corporate world was not rocking the boats of the trio anymore. Their search lead them to materialise their idea of launching a food brand that would be sustainable and one that was built on the trust of the customers.
It all started with a couple of cafes to promote healthy snacking but soon they had the urge to spread the consumption of their products to a larger consumer base. MintSprint was initially a part of Talentspeak Pvt. Ltd., the first venture of the team, a Company dedicated to provide high quality sports training programs to help individuals discover a healthy way to channelize their energy.
They were soon joined by Aman, a techie who shared their dreams. A Chef, experienced in working at senior levels in famous F&B brands was hired, and Payal’s kitchen was converted into a workshop where the initial trials and countless lab tests were completed to get the desired tastes with a reasonable shelf-life, all without adding any artificial preservatives.
They mastered their recipe from their customer’s feedback, and came out with the final product portfolio.
The next steps included setting up a commissary kitchen in Mahadevpura in Bangalore where appropriate resources were procured to produce the spreads in a commercial way.
And that’s how Kalchi was born, ready to be relished by Indian households who are looking to change, to the Kalchi way.
They made their first retail entry through snack vending machines like Grabit, Snackit & Snacksmart, which are dispensed at various corporate workspaces in Bangalore.
Not Just Wine & Cheese stores became their first organised retail partners.
Aug 2017: Bigbasket came on board to spearhead their foray into the ecommerce space.
Modern trade brands like Food Hall, Spar, Food World and Loyal World quickly introduced Kalchi to their shelves.
In their endeavour to bring Kalchi to your doorstep they are working with the residential communities and expanding their direct-to-home presence by making the products available at stores in huge residential communities.
